MENOPAUSE MAMA
"This Woman Is Not Done!"
(1).png)
Menopause Mama is an original, compelling, cutting-edge, and often hilarious solo performance play with music, humor, and singing about aging and midlife changes. It uses the stories of women — and men — who have successfully (and not-so-successfully) chartered the waters we call "the change of life."

Endorsed by Dr. Christiane Northrup (author of The Wisdom of Menopause), it premiered at Perishable Theatre, Providence, Rhode Island to sell-out audiences and unabated demand for tickets. The show has traveled around New England and even to Bermuda.
The Journey of Creation
The idea for Menopause Mama was conceived when Rose Weaver was at Brown University in 1998, working on her MFA in creative writing—a degree she gave herself as a 50th birthday present in 2000.
When she began experiencing forgetfulness and confusion, Rose realized through conversations with friends that she wasn't alone. Her "senior moments" were consistent with the beginnings of menopause.
As an actress and writer, Rose responded by keeping a journal of her symptoms and feelings, eventually interviewing dozens of women from various cultures to write her research paper, "The Cultural Significance of Menopause."

After taking a necessary leave to care for her ailing son, Rose is once again taking up the mantle. Menopause Mama returns to the stage as Family Heat: Menopause at Home. This updated version includes a family of four, showing how menopause and aging affects the whole family. Our mission is to shine a light on every stage of menopause—educating women, families, and communities through creativity, storytelling, and performance.
WE’RE WISER, SEXIER, AND MORE FULFILLED.
AND THIS WOMAN’S NOT DONE!
