Turning Over Your Own Hourglass

There was a time when my pillow knew many late-night crying spells. Menopause hit like a rock band with too many drummers—hot flashes on percussion, insomnia on lead guitar. I remember lying awake asking, ”is this it?”

But then I realized the question wasn’t about endings—it was about beginnings. When I stopped trying to stay who I’d been and started asking who I could become, everything shifted.

For me, turning over the hourglass meant embracing three practices:

01. MOVEMENT AS KINDNESS

Yoga, walking, and gentle stretching keep me grounded. Movement is no longer punishment; it’s how I inhabit my life.

02. REST AS RENEWAL

Deep, guilt-free rest restores memory, mood, and resilience. Going to bed early is no longer “checking out”—it’s checking in with tomorrow’s self.

03. JOY AS FUEL

Laughter, music, and meaningful connection feed vitality. When I sing, teach, or dance with other women rediscovering themselves, I’m not clinging to youth—I’m living my “now.”
